Texans And Their Belt Buckles
Some where around the end of February, the cowboys and the cowboy wannabes put on their best cowboy duds, the center of which is their Texas belt buckle, Each year, the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Association hosts a championship rodeo. At one time, it was held in the Astrodome but currently it is held in Reliant Arena. I am not sure but I would bet one of the bylaws requires that you have (and wear) a belt buckle so large you cannot bend over. The rodeo belt buckle is one of the most popular items and can be purchased in any of the Y'alls Texas Stores, or for that matter, Macy's, Target or Walmart. You get the picture.
Each year people from all over central and east Texas organize trailrides, where they ride their horses or wagons to Houston to the rodeo. It is timed for them to arrive on Friday and have a big parade on Saturday. One secret, they ride during the daytime, at night, they sleep in elaborate motorhomes. One thing in common...they all wear these huge belt buckle and somewhere on that buckle will be a Lone Star, for the Lone Star State of Texas. The people of Texas are proud of their state and love to talk about it. There is an old adage here: You never ask someone if he/she is from Texas. If they are they will tell you before you can ask. If they're not, you will just embarrass them.
If you don't have one of those big Texas belt buckles, don't worry. You can purchase them at the rodeo. Expect to pay more than $100 for one.
Well, I think I will hitch up my pants (The belt buckle is so heavy it keeps pulling them down,) and mosey over to the chuckwagon and see what cookie has fixed up for supper. Y'all come back, now hear?
